College Station Family, Children's, and Newborn Photographer | Shannon Morton Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!!!

Thank you for visiting. My name is Shannon, and I'm based out of College Station, Texas. I've been serving the Bryan/College Station area since 2010 and specialize in newborn portraiture. I only take limited sessions each month and encourage expecting moms to contact me as soon as possible, but no later than the beginning of their third trimester.

I have two goals in my business: to capture beautiful, timeless portraits of your family and to provide each client with personal attention from the moment we meet until you receive your prints and products. I want you to feel taken care of the whole time.

If I can serve you and your family in this way, please use the contact form on this site, send me an email, or call me on the phone. I would love to capture this season of life for you!!

Does he not have the most beautiful face?  Ilan is special to me because I photographed his older brother when he was a newborn (and somewhat new to College Station).  It really is the best to be able to make that connection with a family and document important moments for them.

“Being a first-time mom, I had huge expectations for our newborn photos…and Shannon did not disappoint!  Throughout the entire process, she projected a sense of calmness and endless patience with me and my newborn that resulted in classic, picture perfect photos that I’ll cherish a lifetime. “

I do love the baby portraits in color, but every once in a while I see one that would be gorgeous as a black and white.

The delicate blanket that Ava is sleeping on in this picture is actually her mom’s baby blanket.  Ava’s grandmother had saved it, and her mom wanted to include it in her newborn pictures.  Absolutely!  Her mom also brought a bunch of pearls for a vintage look.

Caleb | Bryan College Station Newborn Photographer

 Caleb. 6 days old.

“Our newborn experience with Shannon was above and beyond what we’ve experienced with any other photographer. Shannon is such a warm person and made us feel right at home during the session…so much so that I might have drooled a little on her couch during my nap! The photographs she captured of our son are a treasure–I smile every time I look at them. Thank you, Shannon, for the beautiful pictures and for making the process so easy!!”

When I initially visit with the parents, I like to find out what colors are in the baby’s nursery, what colors they like in general, and any other special things they might want to include in the portraits.  Then I’ll set things out in advance like this gray crocheted hat (courtesy of And Whatnot Boutique) and my gray cable knit blanket.

Caleb’s mom also brought this fun gray hat, so since it was easy enough to switch hats…  :)

Then, I also get out other backdrops, hats, etc. that might be more neutral or even gender specific.  This baby blue blanket is one of my favorites because of its texture.

Oddly enough, I’ve gotten fairly good at being able to predict when the baby will smile.  The key is to have LOTS of patience because you have to hold your camera and wait for that exact moment.  Although predictable, it’s pretty fleeting!

Caleb’s dad is a drummer, and they wanted to include some element of that in his pictures.  Caleb cooperated beautifully!

We also created some unique birth announcements for them to mail out and a timeline cover for Facebook (that’s one of the complimentary items I like to include for each of my newborn clients).

This is my lovely assistant Holly’s daughter, whom we affectionately call NorNor!!  Love her, too!!

Well, pretty much I love all of these babies.  Also, notice the different color choices for these mini-sessions.  White and denim are pretty traditional when it comes to Texas bluebonnets, but I also encourage folks to try different shades of blue, yellow, green, and even pink…for a girl of course!  ;)

Alianna | Newborn Photographer in College Station

 Alianna.  7 days old.

Beautiful, delicate Alianna came to my in-home studio in College Station for her newborn session in early February.  Just one week old, this precious little one had the roundest, sweetest face.   She slept like an angel and gave us lots of opportunities to document this fleeting stage of life.

We started with an updated family portrait.  Just look at how happy big brother Liam is to have a new sister!
